SMAC manufactures moving coil actuators based on linear motor technology. The actuators can be used for a wide range of positioning, measuring, inspection and pick and place applications, particularly where 100% verification is required. The company showcased a few of its actuators at IMTS 2008. |

S-T Industries manufactures optical comparators and video inspection systems. The company also carries a complete line of precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and electronic tools. The company offers a variety of units ranging from small economical machines to large CNC measuring systems, and showed several of these products at IMTS. |

Diatest is a 60-year-old company specializing in bore gaging and measurement equipment. Its clients are manufacturers all over the world, including the aviation and aerospace industry, the automobile and hydraulics industry, as well as general engineering. At this year's IMTS, the company showcased its production gages and split-ball equipment. |

Hexagon Metrology provides metrology hardware, software and services, under many brand names. At IMTS 2008, the products Hexagon showcased included a heat-sensing machine tool probe, from its latest acquisition m&h; the fifth generation of its Leica Geosystems Absolute Tracker laser tracker; and its CogniTens Optigo RE, a white light metrology device. |
 | Jenoptik (Hommel-Etamic)
Jenoptik (Hommel-Etamic) is a supplier of both contact and noncontact metrology instrumentation. At IMTS 2008, the products Jenoptik showcased included the IPS-10, an optical inner-bore sensor; nanoscan roughness tester, which measures surface finish and contour; and the shaftscan 1030, which measures crankshafts and camshafts, as well as transmission shafts. |

Sony Manufacturing Systems America manufactures equipment and devices to aid technology research, design development and quality assurance for a variety of industries. At IMTS 2008, the products Sony showcased included the Absolute Magnescale, a magnetic linear encoder for use in extremely harsh industrial environments. |

Stotz designs, manufactures, and sells pneumatic-electronic gages and control devices, and offers complete systems to automate production machines by employing its feedback control systems. At IMTS 2008, the company highlighted its gages and HSK tooling. |

Alexandria Maciag, plant manager at Ford Motor Co.'s Van Dyke plant in Sterling Heights, MI, speaks at IMTS 2008. Quality Magazine was the exclusive sponsor of the Quality Pavilion at IMTS 2008, and hosted Maciag and Ford as part of IMTS' Quality Day, Tuesday, Sept. 9 events. The Van Dyke plant received Quality Magazine's 2008 Plant of the Year award.

Dunkley International will be announcing the Mach 8 at the Fastener show this fall in Las Vegas. This machine will take fastener sorting to even greater heights. |
