LAKE MARY, FL-FARO Technologies Inc. was awarded the Euromold Gold Award, a European engineering honor. The honor, bestowed on the most innovative new-product launch during the year, is in recognition for the company's portable coordinate measuring machine with 0.0002-inch accuracy and touch-screen computer that machinists can use without training.

"What the Oscar is to film, the Euromold Gold is to product development," says Simon Raab, FARO president and CEO. "We recognized the need for shops of all sizes to become more competitive in the marketplace, so the FARO gage and this award are testaments as to how hard our R&D (research and development) teams worked to fulfill that need."

A panel of trade representatives from industrial firms, medium-sized companies, universities, research organizations and the press determined the winner of the award.
