SME Focuses on Lean Manufacturing

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has published a new book, "Lean Manufacturing for the Small Shop," and started a monthly e-newsletter, Lean Directions.

"Lean Manufacturing for the Small Shop" describes lean manufacturing techniques and provides examples of applications and explanation of step-by-step implementation. The book also includes a CD-ROM with training tools to help managers work with teams on the shop floor and for college instructors to adapt the material to their course curriculums.
