Zeiss Opens New Headquarters

Amid fanfare that included a laser show and acrobatics, Carl Zeiss IMT Corp. recently unveiled its new U.S. headquarters before more than 300 attendees.

The Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology Technology group has moved to a new 90,000-square-foot facility in Maple Grove, MN, just outside Minneapolis. The new headquarters houses corporate offices, design engineering departments, a customer and technician training center, and a 40,000-square-foot production area that is cooled by an air conditioning system to keep ambient temperatures at 18 to 22 C.

With the added technological amenities and space, Carl Zeiss anticipates it will increase manufacturing capacity by 30%, increase workflow efficiency and eliminate temporary warehousing of raw materials.

"We had outgrown our previous space," said Greg Lee, president, Carl Zeiss IMT Corp. "Our new campus enables us to continue growing our business, while offering customers expanded consulting, specialized training and systems support services."

The new facility is located at 6250 Sycamore Ln. N., Maple Grove, MN 55369, (800) 752-6181.

The purpose of this field guide is to assist organizations, step by step, in implementing a quality management system (QMS) in conformance with ISO 9001:2008, whether from scratch or by transitioning from ISO 9001:2000. It examines each sub-clause of Sections 4–8 of ISO 9001:2008, which contain the requirements, and gives a list of the documentation/documents required, internal audit questions, a summary of management’s responsibilities, and a flowchart of the steps that need to be undertaken to satisfy the requirements.
