Industry News: GE Inspection Technologies to Acquire phoenix|x-ray

BILLERICA, MA-GE Inspection Technologies has signed a definitive agreement to acquire phoenix|x-ray, a provider of high-resolution computed tomography (CT)/X-ray technology used in nondestructive testing (NDT) applications. The transaction, terms of which are not being disclosed, will be completed upon receipt of regulatory approvals.

The acquisition will broaden GE’s offerings for NDT customers in various industries, including aerospace, power generation, oil and gas, and automotive, by adding phoenix|x-ray’s 3-D CT and micro- and nanotechnology systems to GE Inspection Technologies’ current X-ray and nondestructive testing portfolio.

“phoenix|x-ray has a strong reputation in the nondestructive testing world and is a highly complementary addition to GE Inspection Technologies’ X-ray product line,” says Caroline Reda, president and CEO of GE Inspection Technologies. “The acquisition will enhance GE’s technology capabilities in X-ray testing machines, add CT capability to the product line and is consistent with our mission to provide customers with a broad portfolio of high-tech and valuable nondestructive testing solutions.”
