It’s that time of year when resolutions are made that often get quickly broken-a week or two at the longest. I’m not one for making resolutions, but I do resolve that Quality Magazine will continue to bring you the information you’ve come to know and expect from it.

It’s that time of year when resolutions are made that often get quickly broken-a week or two at the longest. I’m not one for making resolutions, but I do resolve thatQualityMagazine will continue to bring you the information you’ve come to know and expect from it.

To me, “out with the old and in with the new,” isn’t such a great attitude. Where would we be without some of the tried-and-true products? Some products, such as calipers, have been a staple on our pages throughout the years, and, I’ve been told by companies with an array of products, from simple to complex, that such tools are best sellers year after year, even though there have been few changes to the basics of such products in years.

Not only doesQualityMagazine continue to bring you the workhorses, but we’ve also dedicated our Quality Innovations column to showcase the latest and greatest products in the industry. This month Special Projects Editor Michelle Bangert writes about a flashlight for fluorescent NDT inspection that was originally developed as a tool for finding tiny juvenile corals in complex, underwater reef environments.

QualityMagazine has been providing readers with information to improve their manufacturing processes for 47 years and that’s not about to change. What is about to change is the frequency with which we provide you information.

Like many of you, we’re constantly retooling and inventing new products. Within the past five years alone, we’ve launched two special sections-NDT including materials testing(www.ndtmag.com),Vision & Sensors(www.visionsensorsmag.com)-e-newsletters and digital editions for all of our products.

The changes don’t stop there. We relaunched our Web site, www.qualitymag.com, to make it easier to use and help you, our subscribers, with both your current and long-term needs. Starting this month we’ll be bringing you even more comprehensive information on a day-to-day basis- information to help you do your job better and make life a bit easier. Some of the new additions include a regularly updated industry headlines section with all the latest news; easy access to our digital editions, including our expanded China editions; the latest product information, including an interactive demo center; and updated conference and show coverage, including theQualityMeasurement Conference.

This month we’re unveiling an improved Web Exclusives portion on theQualityWeb site. There you will find additional feature articles, case studies and general items of interest not found in print. Turn to page 6 of this issue to get more information on this month’s Web Exclusives, including an article on Six Sigma for leaders, and case studies on body-in-white inspection and reducing bottlenecks with portable CMMs.

Now let me turn it over to you. What other information would you like to see in print or on our Web site? If you were theQualityMagazine editor for a day, what changes would you implement? Share your thoughts with me at [email protected] or online at www.qualitymag.com.
