MAPLE GROVE, MN - Carl Zeiss announced that it has delivered its 1000th Contura G2 coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to Starn Tool & Manufacturing of Meadville, PA.

Contura G2 was introduced in December of 2005. The bridge-type CMM features the next generation scanning platform and is available in three configurations, Contura G2 direkt, Contura G2 RDS and Contura G2 aktiv. All models use Zeiss Vast technology and offer the same high accuracy with either articulating scanning or active scanning.

Starn Tool, a family owned job shop, manufactures a variety of parts for the medical, automotive and aerospace industries. According to Bill Starn, President and Senior Partner of Starn Tool, the Contura G2 will be used primarily for the inspection of difficult parts made in their CNC machining operations .This will help us improve our customer service with faster deliveries as well as improving our approach to dimensional inspection.
