The LS 688C linear encoder is in keeping with the conversion of linear encoders for manual machine tool applications to the more robust 1 volt peak-to-peak interface (from 11 micro-amp interface). This full-size scale completes that conversion and is available in the common measuring lengths between 170 millimeters to 3,040 millimeters, with additions of standard scales available at 670, 870 and 970 millimeters. The scanning carriage rides on ball bearings, resulting in rigidity in the measuring direction, and backlash and mounting tolerances, which make it appropriate for use on manually operated machine tools or digital readout applications. The encoder is available with distance-coded reference marks and a connectable cable assembly compatible with the LS 388C scale series. The encoder is plug–and-play compatible with the ND 780 and PT880 digital readout systems.
