ShapeGrabber, Nikon Announce Distribution Agreement

OTTAWA, CANADA, April 8, 2008-ShapeGrabber and Nikon Instruments Inc. have announced an agreement whereby Nikon will serve as a sales distribution channel in the United States for ShapeGrabber’s Ai310 and Ai810 3-D laser scanner inspection systems. ShapeGrabber is a manufacturer of industrial 3-D inspection systems, and Nikon Instruments develops and manufactures optical and digital imaging technology for biomedical and industrial applications. This arrangement will increase ShapeGrabber’s current distribution through Nikon Instrument’s network, while enabling Nikon to provide customers with additional noncontact solutions to meet customers’ industrial inspection and metrology needs.

The ShapeGrabber inspection system uses a laser-based line scanning technology that allows the inspector to generate a complete 3-D virtual model of a part so that critical inspection and measurements can be made.

Marc Bisson, CEO of ShapeGrabber, comments, “The relationship with Nikon will increase the sales of our products and help us bring our solutions to a wider set of industrial customers. We are thrilled to be working with Nikon, a professional organization that has excellent products and a great reputation.”

Hajime Kosawa, division manager with Nikon, says, “Through this agreement, Nikon will be able to broaden the scope of solutions we can provide our customers by offering ShapeGrabber’s quality 3-D scanning products. We are glad to be working with ShapeGrabber and look forward to introducing these complementary products to more fully meet our customers’ needs.”
