EUROCENTRAL, SCOTLAND - The latest construction update from Calcarb Ltd., a manufacturer and international supplier of high purity Carbon Bonded Carbon Fiber (CBCF) based rigid insulation and precursor materials, conveys many major milestones toward the completion of Calcarb global headquarters and expanded manufacturing plant, which remains on schedule for the fall of 2008. “While this year has been marked by a lot of negative global economic news, Calcarb is pleased to be able to report strong demand for our products and a solid corporate commitment to increase supply to meet it,” notes Hugh McLeod, Calcarb’s managing director. “By building this new facility, we are tripling our production capacity. It will enable us to better serve the markets for solar panels and the raw material polysilicon used to make them, as well as semiconductors and LEDs.”

In preparation for making the new £12.5M/$25M purpose-built facility fully operational, Calcarb has taken a number of key steps in the last few months. The company has installed 90% of the production equipment - some moved from its Bellshill facility and some new, including leading edge Ultra High Firing Furnaces capable of processing to 2400 C, new Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) furnaces for coating and densification, and new CNC Machines. It has moved its offices and staff from Bellshill. The company has also successfully completed first mold runs, as well as first high-fire runs. Investment has been made in the latest technology to address environmental regulations, enhancing Calcarb’s commitment to its Environmental Management System, ISO14001.
