CENTER VALLEY, PA-Olympus America Inc. has announced an asset purchase agreement with Optical Analysis Corp., a distributor and value-added reseller of scientific instrumentation and systems based in Nashua, NH. Effective April 1, Olympus will have purchased Optical Analysis’s microscope, imaging and image analysis business, and will begin working directly with Optical Analysis’s microscope customers in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Indiana and parts of Illinois and Michigan.

“We are delighted to be able to serve customers in these key areas with Olympus’ special combination of excellent products, enhanced service and comprehensive support,” says Osamu Joji, Olympus America's vice president and general manager of the Scientific Equipment Group. “Researchers, clinicians, physicians and educators throughout this region will benefit.”

“We have been looking for a way to streamline our business and move into other business areas,” says Richard Boone, president of Optical Analysis. “With Olympus purchasing our microscope and imaging business, we are free to concentrate on these other ventures, and our customers will have the benefit of Olympus’ renowned training and service organization.”

Under the agreement, Optical Analysis will retain its corporate name along with certain other assets. The company currently employs about 30 individuals, and those working primarily in Olympus sales and service will be able to apply to Olympus to continue in their positions under the new structure.
