Manufacturing and Credit Crisis Hearing in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), chairman of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Economic Policy, will conduct a hearing on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, titled “Manufacturing and the Credit Crisis.”

Leo Gerard, president of the United Steelworkers (USW) and David Marchick, a managing director of the Carlyle Group, will provide testimony in the first panel. While not likely partners, USW and Carlyle Group have teamed up to advocate for federal investment in manufacturing as a way of reviving our nation’s economy.

The second panel will include testimony from representatives of manufacturing companies that have been affected by the credit crisis. They include: T. Eugene Haffely, chief executive officer of Assembly and Test Worldwide in Dayton, OH; Lt. Gen. Larry Farrell, president of the National Defense Industrial Association; and William Gaskin, president of Precision Metalforming Association of Independence, OH.
