Starrett-Sponsored Team Finishes 3rd at World Solar Challenge

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA - The University of Michigan's solar-powered Infinium has successfully completed the World Solar Challenge finishing in third place. This finish ties the 1990, 2001 and 2005 teams for the best placing by Michigan.

The team crossed the finish line in Adelaide cruising in at almost 110kph at the end of a 5-day, 1800 mile race against 19 other teams.

The World Solar Challenge is the premier solar car event. In addition to three other U.S.-based teams, the race included entrants from nine other countries from around the world.

The University of Michigan Solar Car Team is an entirely student-run organization whose purpose is to design, finance, build, and race a solar-powered vehicle in competitions around North America and the world. They are dedicated to the development of and education of the potentials of alternative energy technology.
