NEW BERLIN, WI-Velvac Inc., a commercial vehicle supplier of exterior mirrors, vision systems, and component parts, has achieved certification for automotive industry quality standard ISO/TS 16949:2009 compliance.

“ISO/TS 16949:2009 certification is an important milestone in our goal to implement lean, six-sigma practices in all of our processes,” said Velvac President and CEO Jeffery Porter.

ISO/TS 16949:2009 is a globally-recognized specification of automotive quality systems requirements developed jointly by the International Organization for Standardization and the International Automotive Task Force. It requires suppliers to meet rigorous quality standards for automotive-related product design, development, production, installation, and servicing for participating automotive manufacturers worldwide. ISO/TS 16949:2009-certified suppliers must demonstrate commitment to continual improvement as well as to defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.

Velvac offers a line of mirrors and camera-based vision systems for the commercial vehicle industry. It earned its ISO/TS 16949:2009 registration from Perry Johnson, Inc., an accredited, third-party registrar.
