MIDDLEFIELD, CT-Zygo Corp. will supply more than $2 million worth of high-precision optical systems to a medical-device maker for equipment to be used in eye surgery.

Zygo has not disclosed the customer it will supply lens assemblies used in ophthalmic laser surgery to, which are made by its Electro-Optics house in Tucson, AZ.

Optical Systems President John Stack said the order is part of a new customer program.

"This program award is affirmation of our strengths in design and manufacturing of high precision objective lenses for use in advanced medical devices, as well as our ability to meet strict FDA guidelines and protocols," Stack said in a statement.

In addition to optical components, Zygo develops and sells optical metrology equipment like interferometers, also used in the production of microchips and biomedical devices, and in scientific and industrial markets.
