SAN JOSE, CA-Effective September 15, 2011, the core businesses and functions of Moritex USA Inc. (Moritex) will be integrated into Schott North America Inc., the U.S. affiliate of Moritex’s majority shareholder Schott AG. In an effort to streamline its North American operations, all relevant Moritex USA assets, purchase orders, invoices and legal agreements will be transferred to Schott North America Inc.

Schott AG is an international technology group that has been developing and producing specialty materials, components and systems for more than 125 years. The company’s core markets are the household appliance industry, solar power, pharmaceuticals, electronics, optics, the automotive industry and architecture.Its workforce of around 17,500 employees generates worldwide sales of approximately $4 billion.

In November, 2008, Schott AG acquired a majority interest of 70.8% in Moritex Corp. of Tokyo, Japan, to improve its ability to compete and leverage synergies as effectively as possible. Moritex’s technological expertise continues to lie in areas of interest for the markets that Schott addresses, including the medical technology, aviation, machine vision, and automotive industries. Schott has brought outstanding technological potential in hot forming, fiber drawing and automated manufacturing processes to the venture.

The Moritex office in San Jose, CA will remain as the center for sales and support of the machine vision, industrial, microscopy, cosmetics and plastic optical fiber businesses for Moritex and Schott in North America.
