TÜV SÜD America Appoints New President and CEO to Americas Operations

PEABODY, MA-TÜV SÜD America Inc., a global testing, inspection and certification services firm, has appointed Ian Nicol to the role of president and CEO for Americas operations, including TÜV SÜD Canada, TÜV SÜD América de México and TÜV SÜD America do Brasil.

Originally from Motherwell, Scotland, Nicol has served in numerous senior management roles in certification, inspection and testing industries worldwide. Following time in the United Kingdom as managing director of MTS Humberside, Nicol moved to the UAE in 1993 to establish business in the Middle East for Bodycote Materials Testing, a provider of thermal processing services.

In 1997, Nicol was appointed president for Bodycote Materials Testing North America, relocating to Houston, TX. In 2007, Ian was appointed president and CEO of Bodycote Testing and helped guide the business through a successful sale process, with the business being sold to private equity at the end of 2008. In 2010, he joined SGS Industrial Services NAM as senior vice president before joining TÜV SÜD America as president and CEO this summer.

"It is a privilege to lead TÜV SÜD's Americas operation,” Nicol says. “Given the global organization's sound reputation for quality and integrity, and the region's market-leading expertise in testing, inspection and certification, I have little doubt that the business will continue to show aggressive growth and increased market penetration in all the key industrial segments served."

A graduate of Bell College of Hamilton, Scotland, with a degree in metallurgical engineering, Nicol resides in Chicago, IL.

It examines each sub-clause of Sections 4–8 of ISO 9001:2008, which contain the requirements, and gives a list of the documentation/documents required, internal audit questions, a summary of management’s responsibilities, and a flowchart of the steps that need to be undertaken to satisfy the requirements.
