Pedro Feres


PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ-Pedro Feres, president of Physical Acoustics South America, designer and manufacturer of acoustic emission sensors and acoustic emission measurement instruments, has been appointed chairman of ISO/TC 135/SC9 for a six-year term, from July 1, 2007, to June 30, 2013. The SC 9 is the Acoustic Emission Sub Committee of the Technical Committee 135 of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO is a network of the National Standards Institute of 157 countries, on the basis of one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, coordinating the system.

As chairman, Feres will be responsible for coordinating the technical plan to drive the specifications of standardization around the world for acoustic emission standards.

Feres is a mechanical engineer with 21 years’ experience in acoustic emission, nondestructive testing and nonintrusive techniques.
