ASNT Travel Reimbursement Available for Students

COLUMBUS, OH - ASNT has extended its travel reimbursement deadline to Friday, February 27. The organization is offering travel reimbursements up to $1,000 each to a maximum of 10 students to attend the 18th Annual Research Symposium and Spring Conference March 16 to 20, 2009, in St. Louis. Students are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity to participate in an NDE/NDI/NDT focused symposium. .

To qualify, graduate or undergraduate students must be enrolled at a four year university. Interested fulltime students are required to submit: the completed application; a one page essay explaining the role they expect nondestructive evaluation to play in their career and the benefits anticipated from attending the symposium; and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member which includes a confirmation of fulltime student status.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to $1,000. Reimbursement will be for eligible expenses as defined in ASNT policy to include transportation, lodging and meals. A maximum of 10 students will be awarded travel reimbursement.

The completed application, essay and letter of recommendation are to be submitted as separate Word files. Reimbursement recipients are expected to attend the Research Council dinner meeting scheduled for March 17, 2009 during the conference.

A Practical Field Guide for ISO 9001:2008

The purpose of this field guide is to assist organizations, step by step, in implementing a quality management system (QMS) in conformance with ISO 9001:2008, whether from scratch or by transitioning from ISO 9001:2000. It examines each sub-clause of Sections 4–8 of ISO 9001:2008, which contain the requirements, and gives a list of the documentation/documents required, internal audit questions, a summary of management’s responsibilities, and a flowchart of the steps that need to be undertaken to satisfy the requirements.
