HOIS Publishes Recommended Practice for Inspection

ESR Technology has announced that HOIS, its joint industry project concerning improved nondestructive testing in the oil and gas industry, has published a recommended practice guide for the inspection of weld corrosion.

This recommended practice document is the result of a research project funded by HOIS to provide the oil and gas industry with guidance on the inspection of weld corrosion where there are currently no international standards or recommended best practices.

"The publication of this document provides a recommended practice to oil and gas producing companies and inspection companies on the preferred inspection methods and techniques for a variety of conditions," says Dr. Steve Burch, ESR Technology's head of inspection technology and HOIS manager. "Increasing our understanding of asset condition leads to improved safety, increased efficiencies and reduced costs."

The document is available to the entire industry and can be obtained by registering and downloading a free copy at www.esrtechnology.com/hois/publications

The purpose of this field guide is to assist organizations, step by step, in implementing a quality management system (QMS) in conformance with ISO 9001:2008, whether from scratch or by transitioning from ISO 9001:2000. It examines each sub-clause of Sections 4–8 of ISO 9001:2008, which contain the requirements, and gives a list of the documentation/documents required, internal audit questions, a summary of management’s responsibilities, and a flowchart of the steps that need to be undertaken to satisfy the requirements.
