Our new TC UV SERIES Telecentric Lenses are specifically designed to ensure the highest image resolution today available in the machine vision world.TC UV Telecentric Lenses are a MUST for all those using high resolution cameras and seeking for the highest possible system accuracy.

Common lenses and traditional lenses operate in the visible light range. The limiting resolution of a lens is given by the cut-off frequency, the spatial frequency (usually expressed in line pairs/mm) at which the lens is no longer able to yield image contrast information. As the cut-off frequency is inversely proportional to the light wavelength, common telecentric optics are useless with very small pixel sizes (down to 1.75 micron) which are becoming increasingly popular among industrial cameras.

Photonics Visionary to be Honored at SPIE Europe Optical Metrology Congress

CARDIFF, WALES, UNITED KINGDOM -- Prof. Dr. h. c. Lothar Späth will be honored with the SPIE Visionary Award at the SPIE Europe Optical Metrology congress in Munich, Germany, in June. The award is being made in recognition of his crucial support for photonics in the optical center of Jena.

Späth was chairman of Jenoptik AG when it was established in 1991 as the legal successor to the previously publicly owned (VEB) Carl Zeiss Jena. He had been charged with closing down the historic operation, but saw the industry's potential in the area, and instead reorganized and expanded the optical engineering company, transforming it into a public company listed in 1998. ISRA100% Quality Inspection

Visual inspection systems have been used to inspect adhesive beads and sealants in automotive engineering for the last 20 years. However, not until the introduction of in-process solutions did the systems feature the required durability to withstand ambient impacts. Moreover, today's inspection systems also take on the function of robot vision and are even able to monitor the bead height. They play a critical role when it comes to adhering to the most stringent tolerance specifications: Car bodies can be bonded and sealed perfectly with these kinds of systems. LEARN MORE

A Vision Guided Robotics Primer
by David Dechow

In the time since the first mechanical arm was installed in an automotive plant in 1961, robots have revolutionized industrial automation. The programmable robotic arm is the keystone for many efficient, cost-effective and flexible automation processes. As valuable as robotics has become in many diverse applications, the value, capability and flexibility of this technology has been dramatically increased by the introduction of machine vision for guidance. Vision guided robotics (VGR) is the use of machine vision technology to provide coordinates that allow the robot, with an appropriate gripper, to pick up a part with some degree of accuracy when the original position of the part was not exactly known, or conversely, to move a captured part precisely to a target location. Normally, a robot moves blindly but repeatably to a known position within the arm's reach. LEARN MORE
