MUNICH, GERMANY-This year, MVTec Software GmbH commemorates its 10-year anniversary. MVTec is a developer and manufacturer of standard software for machine vision that is used worldwide.

MVTec was founded in 1996 as a spin-off from Technische Universität München. Initially, the employees lodged inside university offices. Ten years later, MVTec is still a German company owned by the founders: Dr. Wolfgang Eckstein, Dr. Olaf Munkelt and Dr. Carsten Steger. In the past three years, the staff has doubled and includes more than 40 qualified experts, leading the company to significantly expand in office space this year. MVTec’s office and laboratory now covers three floors.

In the machine vision industry, with the products Halcon and ActivVisionTools, MVTec is a technology provider for machine vision standard software and provides a network of 30 distributors. At the end of 2006, the support for the seven distributor companies in the United States and Canada will increase thanks to a newly founded North American MVTec support center in the Boston area.
