St. Paul, MN — The Alliance for Performance Excellence announced that 19 organizations were selected by member programs to receive the top-level recognition based on and eligible to apply for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The Alliance for Performance Excellence members consist of state, regional and sector-specific Baldrige-based award programs.

All award recipients were evaluated by an independent board of examiners in seven areas defined by the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence: leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; operations focus; and results.

In 2012, the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program established new eligibility rules which include that applicants to the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award must have received the top-level recognition from an Alliance Performance Excellence member program before seeking the national honor. Members of the Alliance oversee individual programs while offering criteria, education, training, consultation, and assessments. Alliance members create a community for individuals and organizations dedicated to using the Criteria to improve their performance.

“Congratulations to the 2013 recipients of the top-level awards and for committing to an on-going journey to excellence,” says Brian Lassiter, chairman of the Alliance for Performance Excellence and CEO of Performance Excellence Network.“Organizations that pursue the Baldrige management framework can demonstrate through the Alliance member programs that they have adopted proven performance practices, principles and strategies that nurture excellence in all aspects of an organization – from client relations to workforce development to results. On behalf of the Alliance for Performance Excellence we encourage these top-level award recipients to pursue the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.”
