The message is crystal clear: VISION, the Leading World Trade Fair for Machine Vision, is strengthening its profile in regard to system integration.
This is demonstrated, for example, by the larger Integration Area (IA), a special platform for exhibitors at VISION where system integrators and system providers can present their machine vision solutions and services. The Integration Area will be staged for the fifth time as part of VISION, which will take place at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre November 4-6 2014.
"We have made the Integration Area larger this year and have acquired many new exhibitors, especially also from abroad." said Florian Niethammer, VISION Project Manager at Messe Stuttgart. "The Integration Area is already almost booked up with 38 exhibitors at present."
Many new faces - also from abroad
Integrators from seven countries are coming to VISION this year: Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and the USA.
"We believe that VISION is the perfect place to show how our robot solution for picking up unsorted parts, for example from a container, can improve the performance of production machines and processes," said Roberto Polesel, CEO of Euclid Labs, giving the reasons for his company's participation in the IA for the first time.
The competence of this Italian company lies in the integration of CAM software and 3-D machine vision technology. "For example. with our bin picking solution, a total distance planner controls the robot arm so that the parts can be picked up without collisions, even with large and complex containers." said Polesel.
The exhibitor will present solutions in this field during VISION 2014.
Another company, Hefel Technik, willl also be making its debut. "We are taking part for the first time because we want to present our newly developed platform FlexVision which is characterised by its unique flexibility," said Jürgen Mattivi, Head of the Machine Vision Segment at Hefel Technik.
The platform is ideally suited to all tasks involving system monitoring, quality inspections, completeness checks or handling. The employees of this Austrian company feel at home in the user-friendly and standardised implementation of machine vision integration and associated fields such as mechanics, control technology and processes.
"We are minimizing the interfaces for our users," emphasised Mattivi.
German exhibitors such as Hella Aglaia Mobile Vision, will also take part in the IA for the first time.
"Our core competence is the development of embedded machine vision software," said Christian Wulz, Public Relations Manager at Hella Aglaia, "and our Cassandra development tool enjoys the trust of many users from the automotive industry. "Our main aim at VISION 2014 is to acquire customers for our service and product business."
This exhibitor has established the APC People Counter, a reliable device for counting passengers, on the market. It will be presented together with other products at VISION 2014.
Individual, customized solutions
End users will be in exactly the right place at VISION 2014 if they are looking for innovative, customised solutions for their application problem.
"Our core competence is the ability to develop individual machine vision solutions from one part through to an infinite number. We do not act on a supplier-oriented basis, nor we do think in preconceived solution schemes. We start every new project from zero," said Thomas Wichman, Managing Director of ISW.
This exhibitor will, for example, present the PALC unit at VISION 2014. Featuring an integrated machine vision system, the PALC unit identifies, i.e. serializes, packed medical products. "It was fully developed by our company for the pharmaceutical industry and is used to trace products," said Wichmann.
"It is important to present our company in the industry, cultivate existing cooperation agreements and forge new highly promising contacts," said Christian Vollrath, Managing Director of Attentra. The company will take part in the IA for the third time. I
Attentra's main areas of activity are the development of customised machine vision algorithms and the combination of machine vision and robotics. For example, Attentra has developed an in-line test system for inspecting car bumpers. An analogue demo test system will probably be displayed during VISION 2014.
End users to specifically meet system suppliers and solution providers
In conjunction with the practical exhibition platform, VISION 2014 will contain for the first time a talk forum entitled "Inspect Application Forum,"which is aimed directly at end users.
This year, VISION wants to devote even more attention to the topic of complete solutions and systems. The user forum will specifically address industry-related topics from the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, automotive, agricultural, security and logistics industries.
"The speakers will speak the language of users," said Joachim Hachmeister, the main initiator on behalf of the trade journal Inspect (Wilvey Verlag, publisher).
