The International Manufacturing and Technology Show (IMTS), held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois from September 8-13, 2014, provides a chance for manufacturers around the world to not only showcase their innovations, but also to discuss new opportunities and share fresh ideas on how to make their industry better.

Quality Vision International Inc. (QVI) is one of the 1,900 exhibitors with booths on the show floor this year. Below, Fred Mason, senior vice president of marketing for QVI, shares which cutting-edge products and productivity solutions QVI experts will be presenting.

Booth E-5602

In addition to a display of video and multisensor measurement systems and optical comparators, Quality Vision International (QVI) exhibits a number of new products at IMTS 2014.

QVI provides Precision for People through a family of popular brands that include Optical Gaging Products (OGP), RAM Optical Instrumentation, VIEW Micro-Metrology, Certified Comparator Products (CCP), Kotem, and our newest brands ShapeGrabber and ITACA.

Laser scanners from ShapeGrabber demonstrate data acquisition and analysis of all the surface points from entire parts. FlexGauges from ITACA demonstrate highly accurate tactile measurement of critical features on a range of parts, showing their versatility when compared to fixed, hard gages. New members of the SNAP family of large field-of-view measuring systems that automatically recognize parts simply placed on the measuring surface, great for high volume and high mix manufacturing environments, also are featured.

On the software side, IMTS marks the introduction of QVI ZONE3, the next-generation metrology software that offers full 3D CAD-based programming in a multisensor measurement environment. ZONE3 includes the full range of geometric measurement capabilities, as well as advanced features such as automatic path generation for any sensor, animation-assisted alignment tools, real-time virtual machine kinematics, a graphical touch probe builder, and a universal construction tool. ZONE3 offers high level programming functionality including custom user forms and variables, graphical report formatting, dynamic reporting with measurement result flyouts displayed on the 3D part model, and part family programming. This powerful metrology software also features available integral Y14.5 compliant GD&T evaluation with animated GD&T tolerance zones, and simultaneous requirement analysis. ZONE3 is one of the metrology software applications available through the QVI Portal on new OGP SmartScope systems. Industry favorites MeasureMind3D and Measure-X continue to be available.

As is always the case, QVI welcomes visitors to bring parts of their own for hands-on demonstrations of machine capabilities. QVI knows that Precision means different things to different people, so they welcome any visitor with the need to verify dimensions to visit their booth. They also offer "Metrology Insights" several times daily — brief technical presentations to help in understanding of precision metrology.
