JENA, Germany — Allied Vision Technologies (AVT) has announced its intention to expand its headquarters’ facilities in Stadtroda, Germany. A new building will be erected on the company’s premises and is expected to be completed in 2015. The additional floor space is needed to expand the manufacturing capacity to meet the growing demand for AVT’s machine vision cameras.

Stadtroda as manufacturing flagship
The new building will actually be an extension of the current administration building and will provide 820 m² (8,800 sq.ft.) additional office space on three stories. This space will be used to relocate administrative offices currently housed in the manufacturing building. This will free floor space there for manufacturing and order fulfillment. The construction plan includes a bridge to connect the administration and manufacturing buildings with each other.

The expansion is part of a multi-million Euro investment plan to build a manufacturing center of excellence for Allied Vision Technologies in Stadtroda. The Thuringian site will specialize on the production of large volume camera models and be the pilot for company-wide manufacturing standards and processes. Besides Stadtroda, Allied Vision Technologies produces its cameras at two other locations: Osnabrück (Germany) and Burnaby, BC (Canada). The facilities in Osnabrück have been modernized at the end of 2012 and the Burnaby site will also be expanded shortly.

Additional capacity to face growing demand
The additional production capacity is made necessary by the fast-paced growth of the company in the worldwide machine vision market. Sales of Allied Vision Technologies’ industrial and scientific cameras broke records both in volume and revenues in the first half of 2014. Frank Grube, President & CEO of AVT, expects a sustained growth for the coming months and years: “There are many reasons for our growth. One is innovation, with the upcoming introduction of new products and technologies that will enrich our portfolio. Another one is our expansion in new market segments beyond the traditional industrial inspection – for example in the medical or traffic monitoring field. Finally, we are experiencing a strong growth in new geographical territories, especially in the Asia-Pacific region”.

Fourth expansion in Stadtroda
Allied Vision Technologies has been present in Stadtroda since 1996. Since then, the company has continuously invested in the expansion of its facilities. The latest major investment was made in 2008 to double the surface of the production building. “I look forward to see this project completed”, said Frank Grube. “It is another milestone in our 25-year history of growth and will help us better serve our customers around the world”.
