COLUMBUS, OH — ASNT welcomed James Bennet into the new role of chief technology officer (CTO).

Bennett is responsible for the certification and technical services provided by ASNT to its customer base. This includes the domestic and international ASNT NDT Level II and III qualification program, ASNT Central Certification Program (ACCP), and the Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) program.

He will also be responsible for supporting other activities to facilitate ASNT’s strategic plan Goal 4 — “Lead the world in harmonization of NDT certification”— with the help of his team at the International Service Center and ASNT Board members.

His professional background includes 13 years at Rolls Royce plc in Drby, U.K. where he first received certifications in several NDT methods. Most recently he was at Performance Review Institute in Warrendale, PA where he was Senior Staff Engineer of NDT, Measurement and Inspection.

Bennet has held leadership positions at the local ASNT Pittsburgh chapter as well as the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT), when based in the U.K. In addition to ASNT NDT Level III certifications, Bennet also holds a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering from Sheffield Hallam University in the U.K.

The American Society for Nondestructive Testing, based in Columbus, Ohio, is an international technical society with over 15,000 members that provides a forum for exchange of NDT technical information; NDT educational materials and programs; and standards and services for the qualification and certification of NDT personnel.
