Jim's Gems: Life's Possibilities

November 23, 2009

Life's most difficult moments teach us that we're stronger than we know. It always pays to remember that.

Sometimes the worst happens when we have the opportunity to be our best. When the challenges seem unbearable and hope is a distant memory, a new and stronger hope is already taking root.

Even though some life events can cause terrible injury and pull us down to the lowest of the low, nothing can rob us of our abilities and desires to connect with life’s goodness (ethical behavior, moral standards, etc.) Therefore, life’s goodness always prevails, in its own way, despite unimaginable odds.

Goodness lives within us, where we can always keep it alive. And because we know how it feels so completely right, that is what we do.

In our everyday moments, goodness lives. In the most joyful times and during the darkest days, it becomes more deeply entrenched and more personally meaningful.

We pause to remember all that has gone before, and look ahead to the many possibilities that are springing to life. Through it all, underneath it all, we carry an abiding goodness that we cannot be without.
