From the Editor: Celebrating Quality

October 28, 2010

Who doesn’t like a reason to celebrate? 2011 marks Quality’s 50th anniversary and we’ll be celebrating with all the pomp and circumstance befitting of a golden anniversary. But what’s a celebration if there’s no one to share it with? That’s where you come in.

Throughout 2011, Quality will be taking a look back, as well as a look forward, at the evolution of quality and we’d want to hear your stories-the good, the bad, the funny and all of those in between.

Certainly we all have a few good “war” stories we’ve shared with others in the trenches, or in my case, the unsuspecting family during dinner.

Not sure how you can contribute? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

How has quality changed since you started in the industry, and how have the changes impacted your job? Have the changes been for better or for worse?

What one single piece of equipment, software, technique or methodology has had the biggest influence on how do your job?

How did you start your career in quality?

What advice do you have for anyone starting in the quality field today?

Will there ever be another quality guru in the likes of Juran, Deming and Crosby?

Where will the industry be 50 years from now?
