February 28, 2011

NASHOTAH, WI– Dickten Masch Plastics (DMP), a custom thermoplastics and thermoset molder with metal stamping and assembly capabilities, has won a 2010 Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year award.

Nominated by the Waukesha County Business Alliance, DMP earned its award in the large-company category, open to manufacturers with 300 to 750 employees. The award winners, selected from among 53 total nominees in four size categories, were revealed Feb. 24 at a black-tie banquet at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.

“DMP exemplifies all the traits of a truly outstanding manufacturing company – strong financial performance, operational excellence, a commitment to employee development and growth, a passionate focus on exceeding customer expectations and meaningful community engagement,” says nominator Suzanne Kelley, president of the Waukesha County Business Alliance.

DMP specializes in custom thermoplastics, thermoset molding and assemblies, serving industries including automotive, medical devices, construction, foodservice, electrical, small engine and water filtration. Accomplishments that contributed to the company’s success over the past year include:

  • 20 % top-line growth

  • 47 % growth in employment base (139 new jobs)

  • $10 million in new business

  • Achieving ISO/TS 16949:2009 certification for automotive quality management

  • Implementation of 6S continuous improvement programs

  • Leadership in the manufacturing industry and the community

“I fully attribute DMP’s success to the devotion, dedication and go-the-extra-mile hard work of each one of our 431 employees,” said DMP President and CEO Steve Dyer. “We’ve managed to grow the business by 20 % over the last year only because we have a foundation of best-of-the-best employees to support it. I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly thank each and every one of them for their contribution to helping DMP win this award.”

Through their success and commitments, the people of DMP are helping to reinforce a positive image for the company as well as the entire manufacturing industry. For example, the company was instrumental in pulling together a manufacturing alliance in Waukesha County and is actively involved in economic development initiatives such as the Milwaukee Water Council’s efforts to make the region the freshwater capital of the world.

Celebrating its 23rd year, the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year program recognizes manufacturers of all sizes and industries for their contributions to state. Award winners are selected by an independent panel of judges. The accounting and advisory firm of Baker Tilly, the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP and the business association Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce sponsored this year’s program.
