Providing the content you want in the way you want it.
As our 50th anniversary celebration comes to a close, it’s a time to reflect on the past as well as plan for the next 50 years. It’s been enlightening to work on the 50 Years of
Quality column to see how much the quality industry has changed-or in some cases, stayed the same-as we tackled topics each month such as optical inspection, statistical process control, handheld gaging and this month’s final column on calibration.
It’s also been interesting to watch the magazine industry change. When I started with
Quality in 2000, we were a print magazine with a Web site. We’ve changed to accommodate the way you, the reader, wants content. In addition to the print edition and Web site, we have two regular special sections-NDT and Vision & Sensors-numerous newsletters, videos, podcasts, blogs, social media sites, online exclusive content, digital editions, a virtual trade show, webinars and more.
Generating all of the content takes some planning. Like many of you, we here at
Quality have been in the midst of our planning for 2012 for some time now. Back in May we had discussions about the types of articles that would grace the pages of the magazine in the upcoming year, as well as the content that would be provided on our
Web site , newsletters, social media outlets, etc.
All of your favorites will be back including Jim Smith and his monthly column, Face of
Quality, as well as Jim’s weekly blog, Jim’s Gems, exclusively available at www.qualitymag.com. Also returning will be Hill Cox’s Other Dimensions, and other favorites such as
Quality 101,
Quality Innovations and case studies.
Next year we have even more planned in regards to newsletters and columns. Starting in January we’ll have a monthly column on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)-a topic of interest that appeared time and time again on our informal LinkedIn poll. We’ll also be unveiling a technology-focused newsletter every month and much more.
As a little treat, this month we’re giving you a sneak preview of our latest column, Legal Insights. Please take a moment to welcome Bryan L. Berson, Esq. as our newest
Quality columnist. Bryan is an attorney, mediator and the president of The Berson Firm, P.C., a commercial and civil law firm specializing in business law, real estate, mediation and litigation. In his column, Legal Insights, Bryan will address legal issues many manufacturers face. Bryan started reading
Quality Magazine with his grandfather, a quality assurance specialist. Turn to page 15 for Brian's inaugural column.
