You must keep moving forward to achieve your personal and professional goals. It’s relatively easy to keep moving forward when things are going well. However, it’s more important, but much more challenging, to do so when things aren’t going as you had planned.
Welcome your achievements with humility, but welcome your setbacks with confidence and keep moving forward. Don't use success as an excuse to rest on your accomplishments. Just as important, however, is not to use failure as an excuse to give up. Dale Carnegie reminded the world that “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”
Whatever has happened before, your best choice now is to keep moving forward, keep learning, keep making the effort and keep improving yourself. Focus on building new value with what does work, and strive to accumulate valuable experience from what doesn't work. We really learn more from failure than success so take advantage of your failures. The world’s greatest inventor Thomas Edison said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”
Everyone wanders off course. When you realize you've been distracted and lost focus, don't let it get you down and become discouraged. This happens to everyone so don’t be too hard on yourself. Just accept where you are, figure out the best way to move forward and quickly get going again.
When you find yourself standing still or encounter resistance that is trying to push you backward, you may start feeling you have no control over what happens to you. However, that’s not entirely the case. There’s always a way forward, even though it may not seem so at that point in time. You need to keep moving, trying different pathways, because the way to control your direction is to have some direction, and the more assertively you move, the more control you have.
Each day brings new opportunities for fulfillment. You need to use every day to keep moving forward to bring about the fullness and possibilities that achievement can bring to your life. Remember the old English proverb “Where there’s a will, there’s a way."
In other words, if you remain determined, you will find a way to get done what you truly desire, and deserve.
Think about it …
