One of the things that prevent us from moving forward in our personal and professional lives is the fear of failure. At times that fear can be paralyzing. However, failure is nothing to be afraid of. Most highly successful people experience it all the time, and they do just fine.

Generally what will hold us back is not failure. What holds us back is doing nothing at all because we fear failure. Life’s too short to let fear of failure have so much control over our lives.

We should say what we authentically believe, without worrying about whether or not we're saying the right thing. We should express what we truly feel, without being concerned about what others might think.

Above all else, take action without fretting or procrastinating or fearing what might or might not happen. We need to prepare ourselves as best we know how to make sensible, well-informed choices, and then get busy doing it! Move forward with confidence!

Will the outcome always be what we desire? Of course not! Whoever said there would be that assurance? Denis Waitley, an American writer and motivational speaker, said, "Forget about the consequences of failure. Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success."

Certainly, the result will not always be to our liking. However, we need to have confidence that we can deal with the outcome, when and if it happens. We will never know what works and what doesn't until we step forward and take action. Vincent Van Gogh, the Dutch painter, said, “What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?"

The way to succeed at anything is to take action even though failure is a distinct possibility. We need to push ourselves constantly forward into action, and make a special unique difference in our lives and those who surround us. Dale Carnegie said, "Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy."

It’s not easy to overcome the fear of failure, but once we build up the confidence to not let fear hold us back we’ll find our path open up showing the way forward. But we have to build our self-confidence by doing more and be willing to take risks. Ambrose Bierce, the American journalist, said, "A person who doubts himself is like a man who would enlist in the ranks of his enemies and bear arms against himself. He makes his failure certain by himself being the first person to be convinced of it."

Don’t let fear be the reason for failure!

Think about it…
