Industry News: Illinois Tool Works Purchases Quasar International

ALBUQUERQUE, NM-Illinois Tool Works Inc., a designer and producer of engineered components, equipment, consumable systems and specialty products, announces the purchase of Albuquerque, NM-based Quasar International Inc., the inventor of process compensated resonant testing (PCRT), an NDT method.

Quasar will continue to operate as an independent company, which is consistent with the ITW decentralized organization structure. Quasar will be associated with Magnaflux, a division of Illinois Tool Works Inc., a worldwide supplier of magnetic particle equipment, dye penetrant inspection equipment and associated chemical products used for nondestructive testing. Quasar operations in Albuquerque and Detroit will remain essentially unchanged, and existing distribution and customer agreements will not be affected.

A Practical Field Guide for ISO 9001:2008

The purpose of this field guide is to assist organizations, step by step, in implementing a quality management system (QMS) in conformance with ISO 9001:2008, whether from scratch or by transitioning from ISO 9001:2000. It examines each sub-clause of Sections 4–8 of ISO 9001:2008, which contain the requirements, and gives a list of the documentation/documents required, internal audit questions, a summary of management’s responsibilities, and a flowchart of the steps that need to be undertaken to satisfy the requirements.
