If you'd like to do more than hope for change, you need to plan and execute. Determine what’s really important to you. Next, write out specific, broad-based goals and measurable objectives defining the steps you need to execute in order to get there.

Lou Tice, who passed away last week, was a world-renowned educator and motivator. Founder of The Pacific Institute, he consistently recommended the use of affirmation and visualization to accomplish goals and objectives. Lou believed that all meaningful and lasting change starts on the inside first, and then moves outward. He also believed that if used correctly, affirmations and visualizations can take stress out of change.

Now, it's important to remember that change needs to be something you really want to do, not just something you think you have to do. If it is a "have-to" effort, you will get a lot of push-back from your sub-conscious.

This article is meant to speak to those of you who are totally satisfied with your lives, exactly the way they are. You see, humans are basically teleological beings, which means we are goal-directed. If there is nothing we are striving for, nothing we really want to accomplish or change, life becomes stale and we become complacent. When this happens, we lose creative energy and drive, and we flatten out.
