Ever think how much time we seem to spend during our life dwelling on failure or fear of failure? The following is something I’ve had around for some time and makes a lot of sense.
What happened on our previous attempts to get something done doesn’t matter much. It is more about what we do now that counts.
Certainly, we may have failed many times before, but that has no bearing at all on what we’re able to do now. In fact, each failed attempt brings us closer to success.
Thomas Edison discovered that knowing what does not work is very powerful. Edison discovered the light bulb, supposedly on his 10,000 attempt. His view was that he didn't fail the other 9,999 times, because he was successful in finding out what wouldn't work.
When things don't work, and we can find out why they didn't work, we have critical information. The more we have invested in any objective, like Edison inventing the light bulb, the more motivated we should be to make it succeed.
Honest effort will be rewarded. Effort is never wasted, even when it leads to less than satisfactory results. This effort will always make us stronger, more capable and more experienced.
There is no time like the present to make use of all that strength and experience. Now is the time to move forward with more commitment and confidence than ever before.
Take great satisfaction in where you have been and in how far you have come. Success is but a journey and it is more about hanging on after others have let go.
Be the master of your destiny, or it will master you.

I like Jim's outlook which is to maintain a positive approach in our thinking. His short articles have helped me a lot and believe it has helped everyone who reads them. He just might be the next significant quality guru.
Title: Failure figuring out = motive to success By: Maher A. Amery Posted: September 12, 2009 3:41 AM
I do agree with Jim because I do believe that if we could understand mechanism of failure we can catch the way to success.
Title: Traceability of the development By: Marcia Slifka Posted: September 16, 2009 5:34 PM
I also agree with Jim and would also like to emphasize the need to keep clear records of all the "attempts" in order to be able to learn from them.
