Each year NCSL International has the opportunity to recognize an individual for outstanding contributions to the field of calibration, metrology, and leadership to NCSLI by presenting the William A. Wildhack Award. Nominations are due by April 21, 2014.

On April 30 and May 1, 2014, Don Cohen, PhD, an expert in surface roughness and its effects, will lead a two-day short course on surface finish, friction, wear and texture in Livonia, Michigan. Cohen is the founder of Michigan Metrology.

The President announced new steps with the private sector to strengthen the manufacturing sector, boost advanced manufacturing, and attract the good paying jobs that a growing middle class requires.

Shareholders in Delcam, a supplier of advanced software for manufacturing industry, voted to accept the offer made by Autodesk to acquire the company. The acquisition is expected to be completed during February.

The Kansas City Area Development Council announced the Kansas City region is gaining another global automotive parts supplier. Janesville Acoustics, a Jason Incorporated Company, will invest $13.4 million in a new 155,000-square-foot automotive manufacturing facility in Warrensburg, Mo., to supply GM’s Fairfax Assembly Plant, creating 164 new, full time jobs.

InnovMetric Software Inc. announced it launched PolyWorks Japan KK. This new subsidiary is located in the Minato ward, in Tokyo, Japan.

Twenty-four ASQ members have completed the rigorous process and have been named ASQ Fellows for contributing to the advancement of quality. The new Fellows will be recognized at ASQ’s World Conference on Quality and Improvement in May 2014.

JETCAM International and Bricsys announced a technical and commercial partnership that will mutually benefit their respective customer bases.
