Dr. Bonnie Dunbar, a five-time space shuttle astronaut who spent more than 50 days in space, described her experiences in flight – highlights included the 90-minute trip to circle the Earth and experiencing weightlessness – for a special Women in Metrology event at CMSC 2019.

The theme for the 35th CMSC event was “Dolphins and Astronauts.” Speakers from NIST, FARO, Argonne National Laboratory, Spirit Aerosystems, UNCC Center for Precision Metrology, University College London, JDP Metrology Consulting, Direct Dimensions, Newport News Shipbuilding and others described a range of metrology applications, from working on the Avengers special effects to building and racing catamarans. On the show floor, the Jeopardy game was a big hit with attendees, down to the sequined gold jacket worn by the moderator.

Next year’s event will be held in New Orleans July 20-24.
