Quality is the most frequently cited reason for reshoring manufacturing to the United States. According to the Reshoring Initiative’s 2017 Data Report, quality cost ranked number one as the most frequently mentioned negative factor experienced offshore from 2010 through 2017.

About 4 million manufacturing jobs have still been lost to offshoring over the last decades, based on the $500 billion U.S. trade deficit.

The awards will be presented in Milwaukee, WI, on Sept. 28.

Return One Million Jobs (ROMJ) was created to raise $20 million to bring one million manufacturing jobs to the U.S. from offshore.

American manufacturing added 77,000 jobs (tying the 2014 record) and exceeding the rate of offshoring by about 27,000 jobs.

Quality is the most common offshore problem cited by companies who have reshored to the U.S. As reshoring in U.S. manufacturing continues to grow, total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis remains a key, underutilized tool that companies can use to make the best sourcing decisions. 

More than 60,000 manufacturing jobs were brought to the United States by reshoring and foreign direct investment combined in 2014
