The LaserGauge HS701 DSP sensor is a handheld laser profiler with on-board processing, nonvolatile memory and a color LCD. A rechargeable, lithium-ion battery provides power for up to four hours of continuous operation, and the sensor weighs 20 ounces including the battery. The sensor works autonomously, capturing 2-D surface scans, digitizing profiles, extracting dimensional measurements or analyzing contour features without having to connect to any other device. The company’s measurement methodologies are supported by the sensor, including standard virtual gages, custom algorithms and match-to-computer-aided design (match-to-CAD) templates. Profiles are plotted and measurement results are displayed in real time on the LCD. Used as a go/no-go gage, the sensor alerts operators to out-of-spec conditions through the use of color-coded values and audible alerts.
