The Renscan5 meets industry needs for reduced work in process (WIP), greater process control and ever-tighter tolerances by delivering up to 4,000 data points per second. The system combines a dynamic, infinite positioning Revo measurement head with 5-axis machine control and a laser-corrected probe to measure at speeds up to 500 millimeters per second. The Revo head uses synchronized motion when scanning to quickly follow changes in part geometry, without introducing its own dynamic errors. This allows the CMM to move at a constant velocity along a constant vector as measurements are being taken, removing the inertial errors that result from acceleration of the machine during conventional 3-axis scanning. Two rotary drives-360 degree in horizontal plane and 120 degree in vertical plan-provide wrist-like action to optimize part access and enable infinite adjustment to the part surface while measuring.
