This cart-mounted Eddy Current Inspection System offers the operator the capability to inspect small lots of parts by hand on a mobile platform. Occurring in real time, inspections can be performed to verify part geometry, chemistry or hardness. The Pro Series Profiler is used to inspect parts; it is capable of profiling parts with either noncontact or contact eddy current probes and then displaying these profiles on a computer screen. The inspection system automatically calculates the part accept/reject limits from a review of 10 good parts during a “learn” process. These limits can then be adjusted by the operator, as required, to represent the characteristics of the ideal virtual part. The system’s memory is capable of storing the learned profiles from any number of parts, as well as the part profiles themselves. This information can then be downloaded from the system via USB or Ethernet ports mounted on the monitor stand.
A digitizer system and software bundle offers digitizing, archiving and sharing of film images. The bundle includes the Kodak Industrex V2.0 Digitizer Software and the LS-85 Large Format Film Digitizer, which includes either a single or automated six-sheet feeder. The software offers increased productivity for film digitizing with an automatic file save and naming function, allowing operators to capture and review images quickly. In addition, the digitizer’s six-sheet film feeder allows automatic digitization of multiple film sheets without manual handling.
The HMX handheld XRF film thickness and composition analysis measurement tool is suited to the needs of the fastener, connector and general metal finishing industries. The unit’s measurement capabilities include at-process measurement for quality control, plating line and analysis lab applications, and at-sample analysis in the factory or in the field along with alloy sorting and alloy identification for substrate materials management. The Batch Measurement mode lets the operator calculate the average thickness of a batch of small parts with a single measurement. Point and shoot and the analyzer automatically generates an average thickness for the entire lot. In addition, the unit is an XRF solution for measurement of large samples that commonly cannot be measured in chamber-based systems because of part size.
DataSure, a wireless data collection system, uses radio transmission, covering thousands of square feet while preserving the integrity of measurement data. Equally effective for shop use, metrology lab or plant-wide applications, the system interfaces with most major brands of electronic measuring tools and software and installs on PCs running Windows XP Professional. The system automates data collection, improving speed and accuracy when compared to manual recording. Also, by replacing wiring scenarios, the system lets operators bring the gage to the work for more application flexibility and safety. The suite overcomes the challenges of factory logistics and electrical interference with its mesh network system architecture and proprietary design features. The system consists of three elements: miniature radios (end nodes) that connect to the data output ports of electronic tools, a gateway that connects to a PC via the USB or serial port, and signal routers that extend the system range in increments of 100 feet each and can be configured to create the mesh architecture.
Surveyor Laser Probes (SLP) are 3-D laser scanning probes. Both of the new SLP models, the SLP-250 and the SLP-2000, deliver virtually noise-free scan data as a result of proprietary advances in the electronics and optics architecture. The SLP-250, with a laser line length of 25 millimeters, scans at high speeds with an accuracy of up to ±6 micrometers and is primarily used for small or highly detailed objects. The lightweight SLP-2000, with its laser line length of 200 millimeters and accuracy of ±80 micrometers, is a 3-D laser scanning solution for large parts. SLP models are available with the company’s fully integrated DS-Series line of CMM-based scanning systems. In response to the needs of the automotive, aerospace and other industries, the probes are made to be fully integrated with the portable 7-axis arms from Faro, as well as with the Renishaw PH10 indexing system used on most traditional CMMs. The probes interface to PCs using a standard USB connection.
The VDM35 Series Laser Displacement Sensors are available in 6-meter diffused and 30-meter retro-reflective modes. These distance measurement sensors offer fully scaleable 4 to 20 milliamperes analog outputs and dual discrete PNP switch points, along with simple push-button programming. Other features include an eye-safe Class 1 infrared laser for sensing, a built-in Class 2 visible red laser for alignment and a 5-pin M12 x 1 micro connector. VDM sensors provide an analog output (4 to 20 milliamperes) proportionate to how close or far an object or reflector is from the sensor. VDM sensors monitor and measure the distance between products to keep equal spacing and positioning, making them well suited for use in automotive manufacturing. Additional applications include liquid level control, bin level control, profiling and error proofing.
The LANpoint 7, an open-architectured data collection terminal, includes the Windows CE operating system running on an Intel X-Scale processor. These AutoID computers are designed for industrial, manufacturing and supply chain applications. Their waterproof, dustproof cases work in dusty, dirty or spray-down environments. The terminals are powered by an Intel XScale 400 megahertz RISC processor, provide nonvolatile storage expandable to 500 megabytes, and have standard Ethernet 10/100BaseT and optional IEEE802.11b/g wireless connectivity. The compact terminals come with an integrated full-size keyboard; various LAN and WAN wireless connectivity options-IEEE802.11b/g11 megabytes per second and 54 megabytes per second LAN or Sierra Wireless EDGE/GPRS/GSM-compatible WAN; a bright ½ VGA LCD display; a wide standard temperature range; and expanding software utilities, like the lock-down (kiosk) Web browser, which can be used to limit Web access to only the approved Web-based application. The terminal is available with touch and non-touch displays.

The CleverDragon line of industrial-grade cameras is capable of up to 90 frames per second and all pixel data readout at VGA resolution. Featuring Power over Camera Link (PoCL) technology to allow transfer of image data, power and control signals on a single cable, the new cameras are optimized for semiconductor, packaging and other high-speed detailed inspection tasks. Two models are available in resolutions of XGA (1024 by 768) or VGA (640 by 480). Equipped with a full-frame shutter that allows all-pixel reading even during random trigger shutter operations, the cameras read data three times faster than conventional CCD cameras, while providing vertical resolution without degradation. Ideal for replacing existing monochrome analog cameras, both models have a compact form factor-29 millimeters by 29 millimeters by 26.5 millimeters. PoCL further assists the integrator by eliminating the need for separate power and control cables.
The Model 219A05 miniature charge output quartz force sensor is for industrial applications where space is at a premium. The sensor is ideal for obtaining an indirect measurement of injection molding cavity pressure by positioning the sensor behind an ejector pin. The high stiffness property of the sensor allows it to follow very fast transient events. It also may be used to measure short-term quasi-static processes. The removable cable allows for a choice of lengths and terminating connector type, and facilitates easy field repair in the event a cable is damaged. The sensor’s full-scale measurement ranges up to 560 pounds (2.5 kilonewtons), and its compact size of 0.24-inch (6 millimeters) diameter by 0.24-inch (6 millimeters) height allows the sensor to be used for other applications involving compression forces, such as push buttons and pin insertion on circuit boards, switches and actuators.
High-magnification zoom lens systems can achieve greater working distances with the addition of the Zoom Xtender. The Xtender increases the versatility of the Zoom 6000 and 12X Zoom systems by extending their reach yet still maintaining internal focus and parfocal zooming. It also allows the operator to keep computer-controlled motorization and detents intact.
