UNTERENTFELDEN, SWITZERLAND - Leica Geosystems is pleased to be among the top ten candidates for the PRODEX Award 2008. This annual award is given to companies presenting special highlights at the PRODEX exhibition. Innovative products in the machine tools, tools and production measurement sectors are considered for the prize.

The Leica Absolute Tracker is an outstanding finalist due to its excellent distance accuracy. Within a measurement volume of 80 meter it achieves a distance accuracy of 10 microns. Due to the Leica Absolute Interferometer (AIFM), a technology for which a patent has been applied, the tracker measures both relative and also absolute distances for full result dependability. With the AIFM it is also possible to re-establish an interrupted laser beam and immediately start measuring a moving target.

Innovation is a traditional quality of the metrology developers at Leica Geosystems in Unterentfelden. The first Laser Tracker was launched in the early nineties and was a sensation - a laboratory was no longer essential to perform precision measurements, which were then possible directly at the production site. This successful development is now being continued with the fifth product generation.

The PRODEX 2008 will be held from 18th to 22nd November at the Basel Exhibition Centre. Application specialists of Hexagon Metrology will be demonstrating the Leica Absolute Tracker at stand H01 in hall 1.1. The PRODEX Award will be presented at the exhibitor's evening on 20th November.
