NIST’s mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.
As part of this mission, NIST is holding a “Workshop on Standards for 3D Perception Systems for Robotic Assembly Applications,” on Dec. 2-3, 2019, that is co-sponsored by ASTM. The workshop will be held at NIST, Gaithersburg, MD, and the workshop objectives are:
- Learn about the challenges, barriers, and solutions to implementing 3D perception systems for robotic applications;
- Develop a roadmap of consensus standards needed for 3D perception systems; and
- Identify high-priority standards for the manufacturing industry and organize ASTM task groups to develop these standards
We will have speakers from ABB, CapSen Robotics, Root AI, Inc, General Motors, Southwest Research Institute, RealSense (Intel Corp), and Purdue University. Information about the workshop and how to register may be found at: https://www.nist.gov/el/intelligent-systems-division-73500/workshop-standards-3d-perception-systems-robotic-assembly
