Sony (Tokyo) has embraced manufacturing outsourcing and has agreed to transfer two of its plants to Solectron (Milpitas, CA). The plants in Miyagi, Japan, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, produce automobile satellite navigation systems, car audio systems and lithium-ion batteries. Sony said the agreement will allow them, "to respond sensitively to fluctuations in demand and product cycles."
