MILWAUKEE-The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has announced a new education and training system-the ASQ Learning Institute. ASQ says that this is a professional development resource that will enable people to improve themselves, their organization and their world through quality concepts, technologies and tools. The institute will house all of ASQ’s learning offerings in one convenient location, providing members with free access to online tools that will customize and track their learning progress.

In October 2005, the need to create a unified vision for how ASQ carries out its education and training emerged. The previous system, where ASQ headquarters, sections, divisions, and forums all operated independently, lacked standardization and failed to maximize ASQ’s talents and capabilities. The ASQ Learning Institute will ensure consistent course delivery while delivering the same high-quality content members have come to expect from ASQ.

Demonstrations of the ASQ Learning Institute’s features and benefits will be offered at the 2009 ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement, May 18 to 20, in Minneapolis. A Society-wide rollout of the system will occur later in May.
