Chromalox Achieves ASME Certification for Mexico Facility
PITTSBURGH, PA-Chromalox, manufacturer of electric heat and control products, was awarded ASME certification for its manufacturing facilities located in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, on April 13, 2009. Since 1916, ASME has certified that companies in the pressure vessel manufacturing industry comply with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The ASME International Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Code establishes rules that govern the design, fabrication and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels during the manufacturing process.
“The ASME certification is the industry hallmark of acceptance and ensures manufacturers conform to the most strenuous quality standards. Attaining the certification assures our customers that our facility in Mexico will provide them with the high-quality pressure vessels they have come to expect from Chromalox,” says Mark Copeland, vice president of operations.
Four certificates were issued to this facility: "E"- Electric Boilers, "M" - Miniature Boilers, "S" - Power Boilers and "U" - Pressure Vessels. The ASME Code Symbol Stamps will be applied to Chromalox products. The stamps are internationally known as the symbols of acceptance and certification, and are used to indicate that the stamped products conform to the latest edition of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes.
More than 100 countries accept the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code as the standard for meeting government safety regulations. Whether or not an ASME Code Symbol Stamp is legally required, it provides consumers with a high degree of confidence that the stamped items conform to established safety standards.
As part of its quality program, Chromalox has aggressively pursued product certification. The company’s Laredo, Mexico, manufacturing facility was recently awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification.
