DETROIT-SAE International announces the establishment of the "Subir Chowdhury Medal of Quality Leadership" award to honor those in the mobility industry who bring forth innovation and broaden the impact of quality in mobility engineering, design and manufacturing.

This prestigious new recognition brings about awareness of the beneficial impact provided to society at large that has been attained by the mobility profession through the use and power of quality in engineering.

"This is an important new award for SAE International," says Arnold W. Siegel, chair of SAE International's Awards Committee. "It's the first one that really focuses on the area of quality, a crucial part of all engineering, design and manufacturing components."

2010 SAE International President Dr. Andrew Brown Jr., P.E., FESD, NAE, says the new award provides an excellent way to recognize outstanding work. "The new award will recognize those who have contributed to engineering and manufacturing solutions leading to world-class quality in transportation. It's fitting that Subir Chowdhury is associated with an award that recognizes quality in mobility engineering. He has helped to set the standard of excellence in quality for many years."

Matthew Miller, Director of the SAE Foundation, which supports SAE International awards through funding, adds, "This award serves to broaden the vision, scope and perception of the SAE as an organization, and highlights the contributions of its members in this area."
