The American Society for Nondestructive Testing Inc (ASNT), the world's largest technical society for nondestructive testing (NDT) professionals, seeks authors to update its publicationMaterials and Processes for NDT Technology.

First published in 1981,Materials and Processes for NDT Technology was written for the NDT practitioner and covers the fundamentals of the relationships between materials and processing technology and the role NDT plays in the manufacturing process.

The new edition will have two main areas of focus and as a result could have more than one author. One area of focus will deal with materials, processing and the types of defects associated with the materials and the manufacturing processes. The other section will cover how those defects may be found using NDT. ASNT is currently seeking proposals for the former.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in metallurgy and manufacturing processes, and experience writing. Experience in nondestructive testing is a plus but is not required.

All proposals should include abrief synopsis of the proposed publication including types of materials and processes to be covered and the estimated time for completion of a book-length. manuscript

They should also include the author’s:

  • bio and qualifications;

  • résumé or curriculum vitae;

  • writing samples;
