Stork Materials Technology is proud to announce another U.S. location has earned Nadcap accreditation for testing and inspection. Following successful audits in August, Stork Twin City Testing of St. Paul, Minnesota, received notification on September 17 that it has become the 7th independent Stork laboratory to achieve Nadcap approvals. Stork TCT's Nadcap scope includes liquid penetrant and magnetic particle nondestructive testing methods.

What is Nadcap?
Nadcap (formerly NADCAP, the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is a global cooperative standards-setting program for aerospace engineering, defense and related industries. According to the Performance Review Institute, Nadcap is "the leading worldwide cooperative program of major companies designed to manage a cost-effective consensus approach to special processes and products and provide continuous improvement within the aerospace and automotive industries." Nadcap accreditation allows Stork TCT to provide specialized testing programs to aerospace and defense industries and help them to evaluate their components, forgings, castings, fasteners, valves, and base materials.

Accreditations more than a plaque on the wall
"The official documents arrived this week," said Stork TCT General Manager Michiel Graswinckel, "and we are already scheduling Nadcap accredited penetrant and magnetic particle services to customers. As Rick Gerads [Stork TCT Routine Testing Department Manager] said, achieving Nadcap is not just a milestone, it's a shift in the way we run our laboratory. The important lessons we learned in preparing for our audits, in addition to the Six Sigma and Lean work we've done, have led us to make comprehensive improvements in processes, documentation, record-keeping, and organization.

"Everyone in the lab is interested and motivated in sustaining this new model, which will benefit our customers as well as make our workdays more productive, effective, and satisfying. Nadcap has taken Stork TCT to a new level and will allow our customers to reach a higher level for their quality goals. It was well worth the effort."

The Minnesota testing laboratory is now accepting nondestructive testing projects from customers with Nadcap requirements.
